Circle Park Bridal

I am so excited--one of my favorite bridal boutiques, Circle Park Bridal just featured us on their blog!

I just adore this little shop which has so many unique accessories, dresses, jewelry...pretty much anything you could need. Any of you who know me understand that I am always looking for things that are not 100% mainstream...things that are unique and beautiful...things that complete a vision I have in my head that may be tough to find.

Circle Park Bridal is the perfect solution for me when I think about my ideal shop. They are a bridal boutique that has fantastic style--which is so important to me. I am someone who believes that your own personal style is something that should be highlighted in everything you do--including your wedding--and if chosen carefully, elements of your bridal look can have longevity beyond your big day!

Circle Park Bridal in size, which allows them to really provide fantastic customer service, yet their selection of beautiful gowns, unique veils and fun accessories are truly among the best around! And I LOVE all the personal attention I receive when I am there--the sales associates are extremely helpful and respectful of my vision for the look I am creating...whether for a bridal session, for myself (yes, I buy hair accessories and jewelry there too!) or even for my daughter! They take the time to show me options, teach me how to wear various products, and do not laugh at me when I suggest using them in a completely off the wall way!

I HIGHLY recommend you check them out--if you have a dress, go shop in their accessories--I promise you will not leave disappointed!

Miscellaneous Announcements!

Hi Everyone!

I have been editing up a storm the past few days and went to post some slideshows but realized that my disc space is full! I am going to have to start deleting slideshows, so if you have been contemplating purchasing a DVD copy, now is the time! Simply click on the 'DVD' icon at the bottom of your slideshow.

Additionally, I received an email from my canvas company and they are running another discount--15% off until February 1st. Let me know immediately if you are interested in this sale!

And because I hate posting without a photograph, here is the lovely Jen. I have been thinking a lot lately about how I wish that all the women in my life could see just how beautiful they are. I may just have to do something about that...we'll save that post for a later day...

Sick, Sick, Sick...

Hi Everyone--

Just a quick post to let you know that I am sick, sick, sick. I have had a sore throat coming for a couple days, but today I woke up feeling like I was hit by this: [image courtesy of Wikmedia Commons]

Please know that I RARELY take sick days--I can usually type and edit while sick--no problem! However, this time...it's bad enough that Steve is going to come home from work to watch the kids. Let me just tell you that that has happened ONE TIME in 6 years that he has done that. It's pretty bad.

I can't even talk to them because I don't have a voice!

So--don't stress. I will still get everything done--just don't expect to hear from me today. If you have an emergency, please call--just be aware that I don't have a voice, so be prepared to chat in a whisper.

I am so sorry for the inconvenience--I wish there was something I could do, but I just need to get well.

Holiday Open House

Hey Everyone! Well, I never need much of an excuse to have a 'party' or to invite people over, (and because so many of you have mentioned that you would like to see samples, see your images larger, ask me questions, etc.) I am happy to announce that we will be opening our doors to all of our clients on Monday from 9am-6pm. Come on over to see your images on my big screen, ask questions, and even see print samples--this should help make the ordering process much easier and more timely!

I'll be here all day, so feel free to drop by whenever!

Models Needed--Forward to Your Friends!

I am in need of a few models for a project I am working on. The shoot will be taking place the weekend of September 12-14.

Ages 4-12 work best, but I will consider other ages as well. Specifically if you have a very happy baby or a beautiful/stylish teenager! More than one child in the same family works too!

Participants will receive a free session with me, a complimentary 8x10 and 25% off any additional print products.

Whew! Busy, busy busy around here! Just a quick reminder that the canvas special discount ends this Thursday. Please have any canvas orders to me no later than 12:00pm CST on Thursday! I have to order all of them at once, so do not delay!

I'm Over The Moon! + Announcement!

I am over the moon about this next image...you see, I have the pleasure of giving families images of their little ones on a weekly basis; however, a photograph of my children and I has alluded me for nearly two years! I am always the one taking the photograph....and well...my kids are pretty sick of the camera in their faces!

I am so very excited to be a part of an amazing and generous movement started by the fabulous rockstar photographers John Michael Cooper and his lovely wife Dalisa of AltF photography. They are currently traveling the country on a speaking tour (Very AltF) and have generously decided to donate their time and talent to an amazing pay-it-forward movement. The mission: to take roadside family portraits of photographers' families. 15 minutes + my children + a talented photographer= Melanie's Bliss. Why? Well, as they so eloquently put it,

because the cobblers son has no shoes. You'll be surprised that many photographers have loads of photos of their kids, pets and loved ones but few have a complete family portrait that includes them.

So...here is our roadside portrait-- yeah, Harper and I are rockin' the boots. At least we are representing our state, huh?

Follow their [mis]adventures (hilarious) as they travel the country this summer in their RV by checking their daily blog.

ANNOUNCEMENT: As part of my pay-it-forward duties, I am looking for another photographer's family to photograph in a quick, roadside fashion (and then that photographer does the same for another photographer's family and so on…..). If it all goes according to plan, in a year or so, another photographer should be taking our family photo again!

If you are a photographer (or if you know one and can pass this on) send me an email telling me who is in your family, when was the last time you had a photograph with your children and why you would like to be photographed in this manner. NOTE: we must do this within the next 2-4 weeks, so please keep that in mind.

Okay--I think I'll go skip around my house a little more. I'm so very happy. John Michael and Dalisa: thank you. thank you. thank you. You have given me something priceless and precious. I will treasure it forever.
